Mumbai, Jan 15 (NationPress) - In the midst of elections for 29 municipal corporations, including the prominent Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), actress Sanya Malhotra was spotted arriving early to fulfill her civic duty.

Wearing a casual outfit of denim and a beige shirt, Sanya made her way to the polling station early in the morning. Upon reaching the voting center, she presented her identification to the officials before casting her vote.

The polling for the 29 municipal corporations commenced at 7:30 a.m. and is set to conclude at 5:30 p.m. While the elections were initially slated for 2,869 seats (including 227 seats in the BMC), the current polling is being conducted for 2,801 seats, as 68 candidates were elected unopposed. Voting will not occur for these uncontested positions. A total of 3.48 crore voters will determine the outcome for 15,931 candidates, with 1,729 candidates contesting in Mumbai alone. The vote counting is scheduled for January 16.

The State Election Commission has made extensive arrangements across 39,147 polling stations, equipped with 43,958 Control Units and 87,916 Ballot Units. In Mumbai, there are 10,111 polling stations featuring 11,349 Control Units and 22,698 Ballot Units.

The elections span major cities including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kalyan-Dombivli, Vasai-Virar, Mira-Bhayandar, Solapur, Kolhapur, Amravati, Akola, Latur, Jalgaon, Dhule, Jalna, Chandrapur, Parbhani, Nanded-Waghala, Panvel, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Malegaon, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, Ichalkaranji, Ahilyanagar, and Ulhasnagar.

In terms of her acting career, Sanya was last featured in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, a romantic comedy directed by Shashank Khaitan, alongside a stellar cast including Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Rohit Saraf. The plot revolves around Sunny and Tulsi, both heartbroken over their respective partners, Ananya and Vikram, who plan to crash their wedding.

Next, she will appear in “Toaster”, directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, featuring Rajkummar Rao. The narrative centers around a frugal man who becomes irrationally fixated on a toaster he gifted to a newlywed couple, leading to a series of chaotic mishaps.

The supporting cast for Toaster includes Archana Puran Singh, Upendra Limaye, Farah Khan, Abhishek Banerjee, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa. This film was initially set to debut on Netflix on August 19, 2025, but has yet to be released on the platform.
