On the occasion of International Women's Day, Sayani engaged in a conversation with IANS, addressing the current state of women's safety. She expressed that despite some progress in societal attitudes towards women, a great deal remains to be accomplished in this crucial area.
She emphasized, “While there are changes occurring, they are not sufficient. The issue of women's safety is paramount. Our streets, homes, and workplaces must be secure for women. This can only be achieved when men are educated appropriately. The level of impunity granted to those who commit violence and abuse is unacceptable.”
When discussing how her nurturing qualities as a woman enhance her artistry, she stated, “Regardless of gender, empathy is essential for an actor. One must be free from judgment. An inherent sense of empathy is vital for an artist; it is crucial to nurture the stories we wish to tell, the characters we embody, and the people we collaborate with. All of this requires nurturing. Does being a woman provide an advantage? Absolutely.”
