On March 8, in a powerful celebration of International Women’s Day, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta spearheaded a remarkable showcase of women's empowerment at Kartavya Path by participating in the ‘Shakti Walk – #SheLeadsBharat’. This event was orchestrated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and saw the presence of notable figures including Union Minister Annapurna Devi, Ministers of State Anupriya Patel and Savitri Thakur, alongside Vijaya Rahatkar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women.

The march began at India Gate and spanned nearly two kilometers, culminating at Vijay Chowk.

During her address, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that this initiative is a momentous recognition of women's achievements, leadership, and their invaluable contributions to society.

She asserted that in contemporary India, women serve not just as the backbone of families and communities but are also pivotal partners in the nation's development.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women are now ascending to prominent leadership roles across various sectors, including science, administration, entrepreneurship, education, sports, and defence.

Chief Minister Gupta remarked that the ‘Shakti Walk’ transcends being a mere event; it symbolizes a collective commitment to honor and empower women.

“This initiative serves as a vital platform for acknowledging the roles, contributions, and leadership of women in our society,” she stated.

She further noted that the strength, compassion, and leadership exhibited by women have the potential to steer society in a transformative direction.

Moreover, she highlighted that this day marks not only a celebration of women's accomplishments but also a reaffirmation of the dedication to enhancing their opportunities, security, and respect.

When women are empowered through access to education, healthcare, employment, and leadership opportunities, it ensures progress for both society and the nation.

Approximately 3,000 women from diverse sectors participated in the Shakti Walk, which included representatives from the armed forces, police, healthcare, the sports community, government entities, and grassroots workers like Anganwadi and ASHA workers.

The event unified women from over 150 ministries, departments, and organizations on a shared platform.

Along the Kartavya Path, special 2D and 3D installations were displayed to celebrate women's contributions. These installations were themed ‘She Inspires Bharat’, ‘She Connects Bharat’, ‘She Governs Bharat’, ‘She Innovates Bharat’, ‘She Empowers Bharat’, and ‘She Nurtures Bharat’, showcasing the achievements of women in various fields.

A cultural program celebrating national pride was also conducted at India Gate by the Sangeet Natak Akademi.

Upon the conclusion of the Shakti Walk, participants received medals of participation to acknowledge their enthusiasm and involvement.
