New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of Delhi participated in the 8th convocation ceremony of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) on Thursday, emphasizing that empowered women are crucial for shaping the nation’s future.
During her address to the graduates, she affirmed that the Delhi government is dedicated to enhancing education, skills, technology, and research.
“Empowering women through education and skills not only changes their lives but also propels societal and national progress,” stated Chief Minister Gupta.
She remarked that a convocation signifies not just the conclusion of academic life, but the start of a new adventure.
Gupta encouraged the graduates to pursue their paths with curiosity, innovation, and a profound sense of responsibility, utilizing their knowledge and technical capabilities for the benefit of society and the nation.
Attendees included Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood, IGDTUW Vice Chancellor Ranjana Jha, faculty, parents, and a substantial number of students.
The Chief Minister noted that the day is a significant milestone for the graduating students — a celebration of their years of hard work, commitment, and dreams realized.
She emphasized that the 1,181 graduates were not just receiving degrees, but were emerging as future leaders poised to influence the trajectory of society and the nation with their expertise and leadership.
Chief Minister Gupta pointed out that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, national initiatives like Digital India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Startup India, and Skill India have created new opportunities for youth in innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
She remarked that IGDTUW aligns with these initiatives, significantly contributing to the vision of women's empowerment and Viksit Bharat 2047.
Gupta highlighted India's significant strides in women's empowerment, transitioning from ‘Beti Bachao’ to ‘Beti Padhao,’ and now advancing towards ‘Beti Badhao.’
She urged the students to not only celebrate their academic accomplishments but to continue striving while balancing the expectations of their careers, families, and the nation.
Stressing the notion of women-led development, she stated that women are increasingly becoming leaders in development.
Delhi’s Education Minister Sood remarked that this event signifies more than just degree conferral; it sends a powerful message that today’s young women are the builders, innovators, and leaders of our future.
He praised Chief Minister Gupta's leadership, noting that the national capital is under the guidance of a woman who is actively advocating for women’s empowerment and creating new prospects for the youth.
