Shabana took to her official Instagram account to post a picture capturing their unique “Bhaanji and Khaala” moment.
In her post, she wrote, “Khaala and bhaanji.. family ties”.
For those unfamiliar, Shabana and Tabu are connected through their mothers. Shabana's mother, Shaukat Kaifi, is the sibling of Tabu's mother, Rizwana Hashmi, making Shabana Tabu's aunt.
It's worth mentioning that although both have had extensive careers in the film industry, Shabana and Tabu have yet to collaborate on a movie, with no plans for a joint project in the near future.
However, the two have previously united for a literary endeavor; Tabu released the English translation of Shabana’s mother Shaukat Azmi’s biography, “Kaifi & I”.
Shabana shared, “Tabu and my mom are very close. It was essential for someone familiar with the language and cultural essence of that era to launch the book. There could be no better choice than Tabu.”
Regarding their lack of film collaborations, the veteran actress remarked, “It has to be something worthwhile for both of us.”
On the professional front, Tabu is set to appear in the third installment of the successful ‘Drishyam’ series.
The film's primary cast, including Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor, is returning for this gripping family thriller, with the first schedule reportedly taking place in Goa.
Produced by Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios, the film is directed by Abhishek Pathak. It is written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan, and Parveez Shaikh, and is backed by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak.
“Drishyam 3” is expected to hit theaters on October 2.
