New Delhi, July 18 (NationPress) Renowned television actor Shabir Ahluwalia embarked on his cinematic journey in 2007 with Apoorva Lakhia’s action thriller Shootout at Lokhandwala, followed by his role in Mission Istaanbul a year later. However, he ceased accepting film roles after 2008, citing that the scripts aligned with his aspirations never materialized.
When asked why he refrained from films after 2008 despite the acclaim he garnered for his portrayal of RC in Shootout at Lokhandwala, Shabir shared with IANS: “I prioritize scripts. When the scripts I was passionate about didn’t arrive, I chose to step back from films. I didn’t want to act merely for the sake of it.”
He indeed received numerous film offers.
“Many films were presented to me. However, they didn’t resonate with the themes I wished to explore. I wouldn’t engage in a project solely for financial reasons or to be part of an ensemble,” he emphasized.
For Shabir, the essence of making an impact through his work is paramount.
“I aspire to contribute positively to the project. I want my character to propel the narrative forward and evoke emotions in the audience,” he stated.
He elaborated: “If I feel I can’t achieve that in a film or on an OTT platform, I will refrain from participating. My goal is to entertain my fans across any medium.”
Shootout at Lokhandwala is inspired by the real-life 1991 Lokhandwala Complex shootout, involving a confrontation between gangsters and the Mumbai Police, featuring notable actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Arbaaz Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Rohit Roy, Aditya Lakhia, and Shabbir Ahluwalia.
Discussing Mission Istaanbul, the 2008 action thriller directed by Apoorva Lakhia, it features Vivek Oberoi, Zayed Khan, and Shriya Saran, and revolves around an organization named Al Johara, reminiscent of a Qatar-based news channel criticized by the White House for allegedly being a terrorist outlet.
Currently, Shabir stars in Sony SAB's romantic-comedy, Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil, which presents a lively, romantic narrative set within a chaotic household.
The series narrates the journey of a resilient young woman named Kairi, who juggles raising her three siblings while facing challenges from Yug Sinha, a lawyer with a skeptical view of women shaped by his past.
