Mumbai, Jan 30 (NationPress) Over a career that has stretched for more than 20 years, Bollywood icon Shahid Kapoor has consistently embraced transformation to embody the roles he portrays – be it Tommy Singh in Udta Punjab, Haider Meer in Haider, or Dev Ambre in the forthcoming film Deva.
Shahid firmly asserts that when you're passionate about your craft, no investment is too great for a character.
When asked how far one should go for a role, Shahid replied to IANS: “Nothing is too much, you know, if you love what you do, then why is anything too much?”
The 43-year-old actor elaborated: “So I would say whatever it takes to complete the task, but of course, we are professional actors. You don’t always have to go to extremes. Some people believe actors need to prepare in that manner.”
“Some actors may feel that way, but I don’t subscribe to that philosophy. I believe it’s a profession and you should know how to execute it. However, you should dedicate your all to ensure it is the best it can be.”
Since his debut in 2003 with Ishq Vishk, Shahid has presented unforgettable characters in films like Vivah, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, Jab We Met, Haider, Udta Punjab, Kabir Singh, and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.
Shahid, who seamlessly adopts various roles, each infused with a touch of his distinctive flair, has continually elevated his performance standards.
Discussing his approach, Shahid said: “It’s a personal journey as an actor, and there’s a significant desire to provide the audience with an exceptional experience when they visit the cinema.”
“Post-COVID, we actors have acknowledged that attracting audiences to theaters is more challenging than it used to be. They prefer home viewing. We recognize this and strive to deliver a remarkable experience because the love for cinema is tied to the big screen. That allure of filmmaking remains for us.”
On his upcoming film, he emphasized that Deva is a cinematic experience meant for the big screen.
“It’s crafted for the big screen. Not just the character, but the film’s universe should be felt in a theater. It releases on January 31st. A tremendous amount of effort, work, and passion has been invested in Deva.
