Chennai, Feb 18 (NationPress) Director Shanmuga Priyan, who is gearing up for the release of his romantic comedy 'Love Marriage', starring Vikram Prabhu in the lead role, revealed that his choice of Sushmitha Bhat for the female lead was rooted in his desire for a heroine with a traditional face for her character.
In an interview with IANS, he remarked, “I came across her photos on Instagram and selected her not just for her traditional appearance, but also for her impeccable, natural acting skills.”
Notably, Sushmitha Bhat, recognized for her roles in the Kannada film Chow Chow Bath and director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s debut Malayalam film Dominic and The Ladies Purse, is set to make her Tamil film debut with 'Love Marriage'.
Shanmuga Priyan shared, “Initially, we estimated that the film would take 40 days to shoot. However, due to the cooperation of my cast and crew, we managed to reduce that to 35 days and eventually wrapped up in just 31 days.”
In an industry where projects often exceed time and budget constraints, the timely completion of shooting by Shanmuga Priyan and his team has garnered attention from industry insiders.
When asked about this achievement, he explained, ‘We filmed in Gobichettypalayam and I had a large number of artists involved. I anticipated difficulties in coordinating them for combination scenes. However, my artists were incredibly accommodating, making it a smooth process.”
“The hero of my film, Vikram Prabhu, was a significant factor in our quick progress. He was extremely humble and cooperative. For example, he would stay on set instead of retreating to his caravan after each shot, allowing us to work efficiently.”
Alongside Vikram Prabhu and Sushmitha Bhat, the film boasts performances from Meenakshi Dinesh, Ramesh Thilak, Aruldoss, Gajaraj, Muruganantham, and Kodangi Vadivelu in crucial roles.
The narrative revolves around the humorous circumstances that unfold when a 33-year-old bridegroom finally decides to settle down, leading his family to find a suitable match for him.
Shanmuga Priyan noted, “This film will explore not only the issue of late marriages but also the dynamics between the two families involved.”
Marking his directorial debut with this film, Shanmuga Priyan has previously served as an associate director to filmmaker Anand Shankar on projects like NOTA and Enemy, as well as co-director for Ra.Karthik on Nitham Oru Vaanam.
The film's music is composed by Sean Roldan, a rising star in the Tamil music scene, with cinematography handled by Madhan Christopher. Bharath Vikraman is responsible for editing, and M. Murali is in charge of production design. The film, rich in entertainment, is set against a rural backdrop.
