Is the Air India Crash a Rare Catastrophe? Shatrughan Sinha Raises Questions on Safety Lapses

Mumbai, June 13 (NationPress) Trinamool Congress MP and veteran Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha expressed profound grief over the recent Air India crash, labeling it a “rare catastrophe” that has unsettled the nation.

In his reflections on this tragic occurrence, he raised concerns about potential safety oversights and underscored the immediate necessity for a detailed investigation to reveal the reasons behind the abrupt malfunction of one of the globe's most sophisticated aircraft. Speaking to reporters, Sinha described it as one of the most disturbing aviation disasters in contemporary history. “I am at a loss for words,” he remarked, noting that this incident has not only claimed lives from our community and families but has also sparked significant worries regarding safety measures and accountability.

The seasoned actor highlighted the puzzling aspects of the crash, especially the reported simultaneous failure of both engines. “This is among the most robust aircraft globally. A Dreamliner doesn’t simply drop out of the sky. If one engine fails, there is always a contingency system. For both to fail simultaneously seems extraordinarily unusual,” he noted.

Sinha called for a thorough and transparent inquiry. Quoting insights from his close associate and fellow parliamentarian Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a qualified pilot, he recognized that such an event is deemed “the rarest of the rare.” He urged authorities and aviation specialists to investigate every facet—from technical malfunctions to possible maintenance oversights—before drawing any conclusions.

“It is astonishing that such a powerhouse of an aircraft—one of the strongest, most capable, and largest planes—our Dreamliner, went down in this manner. The incident occurred in mere seconds or minutes. Many are suggesting that both engines failed at the same time, which seems implausible. When one engine fails, it’s already a severe challenge, but for both engines to fail together? That’s rare, especially given the systems designed to manage such emergencies. My younger brother-like friend Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who is an accomplished pilot and a parliamentarian, echoed this sentiment, stating that this is indeed one of the rarest cases. This is a Boeing Dreamliner case,” Sinha further elaborated.

He continued, “I fear this could point to engine failure or some form of malfunction. While I hesitate to label it a conspiracy, doubts abound; numerous factors are at play. I seek a resolution to this issue as it has reverberated around the globe. This is not just a matter concerning Putin and Trump; it extends beyond that. People worldwide are engulfed in grief, anxiety, and worry over this technologically advanced aircraft experiencing such a disaster. What has transpired? It seems to be a maintenance failure. I refrain from commenting on the pilots without an investigation, as our pilots boast experience ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 hours or more.”

The veteran actor called for immediate answers, urging authorities to probe deeper than the surface cause of engine failure. Expressing his apprehension, Sinha stated, “I am not insinuating that anyone orchestrated this. However, questions arise: who bears responsibility, and why did this occur?”

He underlined that while reports indicate maintenance or engine failures, the primary concern should revolve around uncovering the underlying cause. “It transpired within seconds, within minutes. How did this happen?” he questioned, advocating for a prompt investigation. Sinha stressed the critical nature of addressing these inquiries swiftly to ensure accountability and avert future tragedies.
