Bengali filmmaker Shiboprosad Mukherjee has confirmed that veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty will headline his next directorial venture, slated for release in 2027. The film, a special offering from Windows Production House, will be co-directed by Shiboprosad alongside his long-time collaborator Nandita Roy, and marks the fulfilment of a decades-old dream for the filmmaker.

Shiboprosad has spoken candidly about the personal significance of the collaboration. 'Everyone has certain dreams. They quietly take root in our hearts from a very young age. I had one such dream, that someday, I would get to work with Mithun Chakraborty,' he said. The two had developed a professional acquaintance over the years, but the right story — and the right moment — had remained elusive until now.

When Shiboprosad finally sat down with Chakraborty and narrated the script, the veteran actor's response was immediate. As soon as he finished, Chakraborty shook his hand and said, 'You've nailed it! This is the story of my life.' For the filmmaker, the moment was deeply emotional. 'Somewhere inside, that little boy I once was was still sitting quietly, listening. To hear those words from someone I had grown up watching was an incredibly emotional moment for me,' he recalled.

Shiboprosad also recounted an earlier exchange that hinted at Chakraborty's enthusiasm. During a phone call when the actor was in America, Shiboprosad introduced himself and sent a voice note explaining his vision. Chakraborty reportedly called back and said, 'Shibu! Why are you giving me such a long introduction about yourself? I am ready to work!' The anecdote underlines the warmth and mutual respect that underpins the partnership.

The project carries added weight as one of the marquee productions marking 25 years of Windows Production House. 'Today, everything has been finalised. Most importantly, Dada is doing well. Just a few more days to wait. Then, a dream I have carried for years will become a reality. Finally, we are working together, Nandita di, me, and Mithun Chakraborty,' Shiboprosad said.
