Mumbai, Sep 7 (NationPress) The heartthrob of Bollywood, Janhvi Kapoor’s partner, Shikhar Pahariya, is feeling the absence of Lord Ganpati now that the 10-day celebration has come to an end. On Sunday, he took to Instagram to share poignant moments from his journey to the visarjan of the revered Lalbaugcha Raja idol.
The visuals show Shikhar alongside Lord Ganpati, showcasing the idol in its magnificent form and the visarjan activities at the beach.
He expressed his sentiments in the caption, stating, “Victory to Lalbaugcha Raja! Ganapati Bappa Moraya .. We eagerly await your return next year. The city of dreams pays homage to the remover of obstacles.”
Lalbaugcha Raja is one of the most adored Ganesha idols, managed by the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. Established in 1934 at the Lalbaug Market by local fishermen from the Koli community, the mandal arose out of a commitment to create a permanent market space after the original market closed in 1932.
These fishermen and vendors pledged to Ganesha to establish a dedicated area for their marketplace. Eventually, landowner Rajabai Tayyabali granted a plot for the market, leading to the installation of the Ganesha idol on September 12, 1934, as an act of gratitude.
By 2025, Lalbaugcha Raja will celebrate 92 years of existence. Notably, in 2020, amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal made the unprecedented decision to cancel festivities for the first time in 86 years, redirecting efforts toward virus awareness campaigns.
Lalbaugcha Raja stands as a cornerstone of Mumbai’s rich cultural heritage, drawing over a million faithful visitors each day over an 11-day period.
Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor is set to star next in ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ alongside Varun Dhawan.
