Actress Shilpa Shinde made a deeply personal and emotional disclosure on Lock Upp Season 2, revealing that she has formally disowned her family in her will following what she described as being forced out of her own home just days after undergoing shoulder surgery. Shinde recounted a painful episode in which she was asked to leave her Mumbai home just five days after a shoulder operation. 'My mother didn't stop me because she was influenced by my brother. I am not saying this to gain sympathy,' she said, emphasising that self-respect drove her decision.

Shinde disclosed that she has been living in Karjat for the past three years and no longer considers Mumbai her home. Whenever work brings her to the city, she checks into a hotel rather than staying with family, offering acquaintances the explanation that guests have occupied her home. 'I will never talk about it in my life,' she added, indicating the depth of the estrangement.

The Will and the Decision to Cut Ties

In what was perhaps the most striking revelation of the episode, Shinde confirmed she has taken a legal step to formalise the break. 'I have even written in my will that I have no relation with these people,' she said. The actress clarified she still speaks to her mother occasionally by phone but has not met her in a long time, noting that repeated promises of a visit to Karjat have not materialised.

Shinde said her motivation for participating in the show goes beyond personal catharsis. 'If someone asks me why I am doing this show, I say that I don't want a home. I want to make a shelter home.
