Mumbai, July 9 (NationPress) The mother of actress Urvashi Rautela, Meera Rautela, has disclosed startling information regarding Vedika Shetty, the former assistant of Alia Bhatt, who has been apprehended for allegedly defrauding her of Rs. 77 lakh.

Meera Rautela recounted her own distressing experiences with Vedika Shetty, who previously worked as Urvashi’s personal assistant. In a shocking account, she revealed how Vedika was purportedly involved in significant thefts totaling lakhs of rupees from the Rautela family. This incident was reported to the authorities some time ago, and she has now chosen to speak out about her unsettling experiences.

“Vedika Shetty was employed as a full-time executive assistant to my daughter from 2015 to 2017. She was brought on board to assist Urvashi following her return from the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas, and during the handover of the Miss Universe India crown in 2016. At that time, she was entrusted with an array of duties, including managing Urvashi's wardrobe, gowns, and personal items. However, it soon became evident that she had engaged in multiple acts of theft and deceit, which inflicted substantial financial damage to our family.”

Meera continued, “During the 2016 Miss Universe India crown handover ceremony, my mother traveled from Nainital to our residence in Mumbai for the event. While she was staying with us, Vedika Shetty, who had access to our home as Urvashi’s assistant, stole a considerable sum of money (amounting to lakhs of rupees) from my mother’s briefcase.”

“This theft occurred when my mother was briefly away from her possessions during a doctor's visit, and Vedika seized the opportunity to commit the crime. Additionally, during the same crown handover event, I was having my sarees fitted for the red carpet with my tailor, leaving my purse in Vedika Shetty's care. I distinctly witnessed her pilfering money from my purse while I stood before a mirror. When I confronted her, she flatly denied the act, but I was certain of what I had seen. This incident heightened our suspicions regarding her integrity.”

Meera Rautela also disclosed that during her tenure with the family, Vedika Shetty falsely claimed to have connections with well-known actors Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty. She noted that the entire ordeal had inflicted significant financial and emotional distress on their family, particularly affecting Urvashi’s grandmother.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Mumbai Police indicates that Alia Bhatt’s former secretary, Vedika Shetty, has been arrested by the Juhu Police concerning a fraudulent case involving Rs 7.7 million linked to the actress.

Shetty is accused of forging Alia’s signature to execute financial fraud totaling Rs. 76.9 lakh over a two-year period. Employed as Alia's secretary from 2021 to 2024, she was tasked with managing the actress’s financial documents, overseeing payments, and organizing her schedule during that time.
