Mumbai, Jan 10 (NationPress) Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar has announced that her character Sweety Gupta from Mirzapur Season 1 is “back from the dead” as she embarks on filming the cinematic adaptation of the renowned crime thriller series.
Shriya shared two images on Instagram; the first captured the film’s clapboard, while the second showcased a group photo featuring the cast, including Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Divyenndu, Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and others.
In her caption, she wrote: “8 years later ...guess who's back from the dead. MIRZAPUR -THE FILM. Currently filming. Jald hi milenge ..”
For those unfamiliar, Shriya’s character Sweety was tragically killed by Munna Bhaiyya during her wedding while she was pregnant in the first season.
The series Mirzapur follows Akhandanand “Kaleen” Tripathi, a crime lord and businessman, the dominant force in the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh, India.
The main cast of the first season included Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
The second season maintains most of the original cast, with the exception of Vikrant and Shriya, introducing new actors such as Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar, Lilliput, Anjum Sharma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Anangsha Biswas, and Neha Sargam.
Shriya is also set to appear in Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan, which began production in August this year. This film marks the reunion of Bollywood icons Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after 18 years, their last collaboration being the commercially unsuccessful film ‘Tashan’.
Shriya made her acting debut in the Marathi film Ekulti Ek in 2013, earning the Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Debut.
