Los Angeles, Oct 26 (NationPress) Hollywood actor Simu Liu faced significant challenges while filming the new series ‘The Copenhagen Test’.
The ‘Shang-Chi’ star, aged 36, shared that he took part in his own stunts for this new espionage thriller, where he portrays a Chinese-American intelligence analyst caught between his clandestine agency and elusive hackers, as reported by ‘People’ magazine.
He recounted to ‘People’, “I got kicked in the face. Yeah. Many, many, many times.” Despite having “phenomenal” stunt coordinators, James and Chris Mark, ensuring the set was as safe as possible, there is always a degree of “risk” involved in stunt work.
“When you're performing fight scenes or sprinting through a hallway, and you’ve got to push through several people, things are bound to happen. I recall getting kicked in the face and being thrown against objects during filming,” he shared.
According to ‘People’, Liu explained that while some actors opt out of performing their own stunts to avoid injury, which is “nothing inherently wrong,” it can complicate post-production. Editors have limited angles and some shots with a stunt double “just aren't gonna sell.”
On the other hand, the ‘Barbie’ actor mentioned that when performers do their own stunts, it “provides the editor with infinite more options regarding where to cut and when.”
Liu acknowledged that he enjoys the challenge of action roles.
“Here’s the thing, probably to my own detriment, I’m overly competitive. Ever since I was four, if I see someone doing something and I believe I could do it just as well or better, I always say, ‘Great. Count me in’,” he revealed.
