Mumbai, Jan 20 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Sophie Turner is preparing for her new streaming series ‘Steal’, where she describes her character as ‘a bit of a mess’.
This time, the actress is moving away from the usual corsets, castles, and polished heroines, diving into chaos with ‘Steal’. This contemporary thriller allows her to explore new territory in both genre and character, portraying Zara, an everyday office worker whose life spirals out of control after being entangled in a perilous crime.
Turner was attracted to the show’s modern twist, emotional complexity, and unexpected humor, expressing that this role provided her with an opportunity she hadn’t encountered in her career before.
Discussing her motivation for the role, Sophie Turner noted that stepping away from her usual choices was particularly appealing.
She mentioned, “I think it was the fact that I hadn't really done anything like this before. I generally lean toward some sort of period, and this is very current. Zara, my character, is a bit of a mess, and I don't know if I've ever played someone that doesn't have their s*** together. Quite as much as she doesn't, and that was very fun to explore, and it's funny as well, and there's like a beautiful friendship at the core of the story, and I think it's just so multifaceted, this show, that it really, I couldn't say ‘no’.”
The series is directed by Sam Miller and Hettie Macdonald, with writing credits to Poppy Cogan and Shyam Popat. It features a talented cast including Archie Madekwe, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Ellie James, Tomisin Ajani, Harry Michell, Sarah Belcher, Andrew Koji, Jonathan Slinger, Yusra Warsama, and Anastasia Hille in prominent roles.
Produced by Rebecca De Souza and Greg Brenman, along with Nuala O'Leary, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and Drama Republic, ‘Steal’ is set to debut on January 21 on Prime Video.
