Mumbai, June 26 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai recently took a nostalgic journey as he revisited the production of his classic 1997 film “Pardes”.
In a heartfelt moment, he shared a behind-the-scenes image from the filming at Fatehpur Sikri, reflecting on the passionate teamwork that brought the story to fruition. Ghai noted that a remarkable film like “Pardes” can only be realized when writers, directors, and actors unite with equal fervor and dedication.
He attributed the film’s emotional richness and enduring charm to the collaborative efforts of his co-writer Neeraj Pathak, dialogue writer Javed Siddiqui, and the lead actor Shah Rukh Khan, especially during pivotal moments like the film’s climax.
Subhash Ghai shared a BTS photo featuring SRK and other members of the film's crew. In the image, the director can be seen explaining a scene to the actor. Ghai captioned it, “A memorable film like Pardes can be made only when writers, directors, and actors collaborate passionately in creating each moment of the film. This precisely happened when my co-writer Neeraj Pathak, my dialogue writer Javed Siddiqui, and my exceptional actor Shah Rukh Khan channeled their full energy into crafting and enacting scenes like this in the climax. I just received a picture from the shooting of Pardes in Fatehpur Sikri. When imagination intertwines with creativity, and they strike the right chords together... Magic happens. Just like each of your films did, sir.”
“Pardes,” a romantic musical, was directed by Subhash Ghai, who also took on the roles of producer and co-writer under his banner, Mukta Arts. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan in the leading role, alongside debutants Mahima Chaudhry and Apurva Agnihotri. It also featured a robust supporting cast, including Alok Nath, Amrish Puri, and Himani Shivpuri.
The film was later adapted into the Telugu version titled “Pelli Kanuka” in 1998, featuring Jagapati Babu, Lakshmi, and Banumathi Ramakrishna. “Pardes” was officially released on 8 August 1997.
