Mumbai, March 17 (NationPress) Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has opened up about the pivotal scene that inspired him to create the full story and screenplay for his legendary 1980 film “Karz”, featuring the late star Rishi Kapoor.

On Instagram, Subhash posted a nostalgic image showcasing a significant moment from the classic Bollywood movie Karz.

The image captures a deeply emotional scene in which a mourning mother, clad in black, seems to recognize the spirit of her departed son. This moment is witnessed by a group of astonished onlookers, apart from a man who remains composed, presumably the character Monty, as indicated by the filmmaker.

In his caption, he noted, “The film KARZ came to life because of this one scene—a moment when a mother’s soul acknowledges the spirit of her late son, while everyone else is in shock except for her son Monty. I crafted the entire story and screenplay around this pivotal moment. I NEVER KNEW IT WOULD become a CULT CLASSIC after 45 years.”

On March 11, Subhash Ghai shared another vintage photograph featuring Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim from the film’s production.

In this post, Subhash shared a picture where the late actor is seen smoking a cigarette, with Ghai in between and Tina beside them. The filmmaker appears to be directing a scene from the movie.

“I CAN’T BELIEVE it: directing Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim. KARZ: 45 years ago, now set to premiere at the RED LORRY FILM FESTIVAL on March 21 at 11:30 AM on the big screen at PVR BKC BANDRA MUMBAI. (sic).”

“And meeting Simi Garewal, Tina Munim (Ambani), Mrs. Neetu Rishi Kapoor, cinematographer Kamalakar Rao and Pyare Lal on one stage with nostalgic memories Om Shanti Om (sic),” Subhash added in his caption.

Karz, a romantic thriller, also features Simi Garewal. The film narrates the tale of Monty uncovering the startling truth about his past life after being murdered by his gold-digging wife, which left his family destitute. Supported by his beloved, he resolves to rectify the wrongs once and for all.
