He shared a nostalgic black-and-white image on Instagram, capturing a blissful moment from the recording of the song “Main Solah Baras Ki” from the movie “Karz”, performed by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.
“Did you know the lovely girl rehearsing her dance moves is TINA MUNIM - AMBANI now?” he remarked.
“For our song - “Mai Solah Baras Ki - Tu 17 Baras Ka” featuring Rishi Kapoor in the film KARZ from 1980. Back then, we composed and rehearsed right on location, embracing improvisation as a core element of filmmaking during those times. (sic).
He continued: “I cast Tina as herself in the film because she naturally embodied the innocence of a teenager, just as you see her in KARZ. Today, we celebrate KARZ as it marks its 45th anniversary, reflecting on how the cinema landscape has evolved while still cherishing our significant contributions. (sic).”
On March 11, Subhash Ghai shared an earlier photograph of Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim from the film's shoot.
In his Instagram post, he featured a picture where the late star is seen smoking, with Ghai in the middle and Tina beside them. It appears the director was providing direction for a scene.
“CAN’T BELIEVE IT: directing Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim. KARZ: 45 years ago, now premiering at the RED LORRY FILM FESTIVAL on March 21 at 11:30 AM, showing on the big screen at PVR BKC BANDRA MUMBAI. (sic).”
“And meeting Simi Garewal, Tina Munim (Ambani), Mrs. Neetu Rishi Kapoor, cinematographer Kamalakar Rao, and Pyare Lal Ji on one stage brings back memories of Om Shanti Om (sic),” he captioned the post.
