Mumbai, Feb 7 (NationPress) Actor Sundeep Kishan, who is preparing for the launch of his Telugu comedy series Super Subbu, took a moment to reflect on his entry into Hindi films with “Shor In The City”.
The actor shared some interesting stories, revealing that it was actually actor Rajkummar Rao who was the original choice of the casting director for the film, which debuted in 2011 and was helmed by Raj & DK. The crime drama stars Tusshar Kapoor, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Preeti Desai, Girija Oak, Radhika Apte, Nikhil Dwivedi, Pitobash Tripathy, and Amit Mistry.
Sundeep recounted, “When I was selected for Shor In The City, they met me in Hyderabad and expressed, 'We really like you.' They then inquired, 'Do you speak Hindi?' Growing up in Chennai, I replied, 'If you give me the job, I’ll learn Hindi.'”
Sundeep highlighted how Raj & DK supported him throughout the process.
“Unlike many who bring family or friends, Raj and DK accompanied me to meet the casting director. That's just their nature. They would do this for anyone,” he shared.
Recollecting the experience, he stated: “The casting director was doubtful. He advocated for Rajkummar Rao and questioned why a South Indian boy was being considered. But Raj & DK stood their ground, asserting, 'No, it has to be this boy.'”
In the end, Sundeep secured the role.
“The casting director shook my hand and said, 'You’re a good man.' I was nervous, asking, 'Did I do well?' He simply replied, 'You have the director waiting for you; go in as you're meant to.'”
Sundeep was a featured speaker at the Watcho Storytellers Conclave organized by Dish TV’s OTT platform, where he conducted a session titled ‘A Young Star Who Seamlessly Gels into Any Role, Any Industry, and Platform.’
Sundeep emphasized: “It's all about empowering each creator to discover their unique voice and connect with the audience that matters.”
