Suriya at 'Scene' launch: 'As long as you breathe, nothing is a defeat'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Actor Suriya delivered an emotional and motivational message to his fans at the audio and trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Scene' in Chennai on 2 November 2026, urging them to believe in life and never see any setback as final. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, 'Scene' is set for a worldwide theatrical release on 6 November for Deepavali.
Suriya's Message to Fans
Speaking at the event in his dual role as actor and producer, Suriya told the audience: 'We had told you that what you manifest, you will become. But don't stop with just manifestation alone. Work hard at what you want to achieve. Work for it at the grass roots level.'
He went further, saying: 'Believe in Life. Life is beautiful. What I believe in is that as long as we breathe, everything is subject to review. Everything can be changed. Everything can be corrected. As long as you breathe, nothing is a defeat, nothing has ended, nothing has broken. You can set right everything. You can make a comeback. You can start from the beginning again and set things right. Believe in life. Life is beautiful.'
What the Trailer Reveals
The trailer opens with Suriya's character Inbaraj unexpectedly resigning from the police force, stunning his seniors, colleagues, and subordinates alike. When superior officer Stephen — played by actor Lal — repeatedly orders him to report to office, Inbaraj ignores the summons and chooses to stay home.
In a comic highlight, Stephen dispatches officers to physically bring Inbaraj in. When the arresting officer warns that he has been instructed to carry Inbaraj if necessary, the maverick ex-cop cheerfully raises his arms and legs, inviting them to do exactly that. The sequence continues at Stephen's office, where Inbaraj reveals his post-resignation plan: he intends to join politics.
The trailer also shows Suriya's character posting an advertisement for a house help — a position that Nazriya Nazim's character Maya turns up to fill, setting up what appears to be a key relationship in the film.
The Antagonist: Eeswaran
Actor Naslen plays Eeswaran, described by the makers as a 'faceless, emotionless, inhuman predator' — a ruthless and sharp criminal who considers only Inbaraj a worthy opponent. The trailer signals that the film balances its light-hearted moments with gripping action, including stunt sequences featuring Nazriya.
Cast, Crew and Background
Beyond the leads, 'Scene' features John Vijay and Anandaraj in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Zhagaram Studios and was referred to as Suriya 47 during its production phase. It went on floors with a traditional pooja in December 2025 in Chennai.
The technical team includes cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, composer Sushin Shyam, production designer Ashwini Kale, editor Ajmal Sabu, and stunt choreographer Chethan D Souza. The Suriya–Jithu Madhavan collaboration has generated significant fan anticipation since it was first announced, making 'Scene' one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil releases of the year. All eyes now turn to its Deepavali debut on 6 November.
