Tahira Kashyap Reflects on Her First Lohri Celebration with In-Laws

Mumbai, Jan 12 (NationPress) Director and producer Tahira Kashyap has fondly recounted her experience of her first Lohri as a newly married woman, just ahead of the festival on Monday. Being of Punjabi descent, she expressed her joy in celebrating the festival alongside her in-laws, emphasizing how the lively festivities truly embodied the occasion.

Reflecting on the event, Tahira, who is wed to Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, shared, "In Punjabi culture, the inaugural Lohri after marriage is a highly spirited affair. My in-laws organized a celebration in honor of us, the newlyweds. There was delightful dance and music, with married couples circling the bonfire. We savored gajak (chikki), peanuts, and popcorn, which were also tossed into the flames.”

She further added, “It goes without saying that the melodies of 'Sundar Mundriye' filled the atmosphere. The concluding lines of the song made me chuckle. It essentially translates to, ‘Bestow upon us Lohri, may your couple thrive, whether you weep or bump your head afterward.’ That’s quite the humorous disclaimer young Punjabi couples receive from their elders.”

On the professional front, Tahira Kashyap made her directorial debut with ‘Sharmajee Ki Beti’, which was well-received for its engaging narrative and innovative directorial approach. Renowned for her role in motivating the new generation and empowering women, Tahira earned significant acclaim for the film, contributing to a transformation in storytelling.

Meanwhile, her spouse, Ayushmann Khurrana, is currently filming for his forthcoming movie ‘Thama’. After a brief schedule in Mumbai late last year, the film’s crew is set to capture some thrilling scenes as they commence shooting next week in the national capital, continuing throughout the first half of January.

‘Thama’ is described as a ‘bloody love story’ and is part of Maddock’s successful horror-comedy universe. The film is expected to deliver a captivating love tale against a bloody backdrop, featuring a stellar cast including Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, alongside Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

This project is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of ‘Munjya’ fame, with a script penned by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara, and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik.
