J&K L-G and CM Omar Abdullah Share Heartfelt Wishes for Lohri and Makar Sankranti, Highlighting Unity and Abundance

New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of J&K, Omar Abdullah, along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, extended their warm wishes to the community on the auspicious occasions of Lohri and Makar Sankranti, expressing hopes for joy, peace, and prosperity for all celebrants.

In his message, Omar Abdullah underscored the significance of unity and joy that festivals like Lohri foster, enabling individuals to come together and cherish moments of happiness amidst their hectic lives. He expressed aspirations that these festivities would usher in a period brimming with peace, harmony, and prosperity for the region.

According to the official social media handle of the Information & PR Department of the Union Territory of J&K, he mentioned, “Lohri carries special importance, representing the rich culture and traditions of our land. May these festivities fortify bonds and spread warmth and joy among everyone.”

Omar Abdullah conveyed his best wishes to all communities celebrating these festivals and prayed for a bright and prosperous future for the inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also extended his heartfelt greetings to the citizens on the occasion of Lohri and Makar Sankranti, observed on January 13 and 14, respectively.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor stated: “On the joyous occasion of Lohri and Makar Sankranti, I offer my greetings and best wishes to all and wish them health, happiness, and prosperity. These traditional celebrations, observed with great enthusiasm, present us with a sacred opportunity to honor the indomitable spirit of our hardworking farmers and acknowledge their invaluable contributions to the development of J&K. May these festivals bring joy and prosperity to everyone.”

Lohri and Makar Sankranti are significant harvest festivals in India, marking the end of winter and the commencement of spring. Lohri, especially celebrated in Punjab and other northern areas, includes bonfires, dancing, and sharing food. Makar Sankranti, observed in various northern states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, emphasizes prayers and acts of charity.
