New Delhi, Jan 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the residence of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy this evening to partake in the Sankranthi celebrations. The event is slated to kick off at 5 p.m. and is anticipated to congregate notable leaders from the BJP.
Besides the Prime Minister, several senior BJP officials and Members of Parliament representing the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also expected to be part of the festivities at Kishan Reddy's residence.
This celebration aligns with the traditional Sankranthi festival, a harvest event celebrated with great fervor in South India, especially in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
As the president of the Telangana BJP unit, G. Kishan Reddy took this opportunity to convey his best wishes to the public on this occasion.
In a message posted on X, he stated, "Wishing everyone an auspicious Sankranthi. Happy Bhogi to all the people of the state!"
Bhogi marks the first day of the Sankranthi festival and this greeting encapsulates various aspects of the celebrations.
The Sankranthi festival promotes cultural unity and enhances ties within the Telugu-speaking community.
The event is expected to showcase traditional rituals, highlighting the rich heritage of this festival.
The Makar Sankranthi festival, which will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 14, signifies the Sun's transition into Capricorn (Makar), marking the onset of its northward journey.
Makar Sankranti is not merely a festival of astronomical importance but also a celebration deeply rooted in India's cultural, agricultural, and spiritual traditions. It is observed nationwide, featuring various customs and practices.
Coinciding with this occasion, the Maha Kumbh began on Monday in the sacred city of Prayagraj. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and other political leaders, extended their greetings to the public.
However, the inaugural 'Amrit Snan' will occur on Makar Sankranti, January 14, with all Akharas participating in a traditional bathing ritual at the confluence of the three holy rivers – Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.
