Vipul Amrutlal Shah Claims Theatre Owners Face Threats Over 'The Kerala Story 2'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 28 (NationPress) Director Vipul Amrutlal Shah has accused theatre proprietors in Chennai and Kerala of facing intimidation to withdraw the screening of their film, 'The Kerala Story 2'. This follows the removal of a court-ordered stay on the film's release last Friday.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Shah urged the Chief Ministers of both regions to ensure that the court's ruling is fully enforced.
Shah stated, "I implore the Chief Ministers to enforce the court's decision and take stringent measures against the criminal elements attempting to halt the film's release. What use is the law if it is only applied to us and not to them?"
He emphasized, "During the stay on our film, we refrained from any illegal screenings. We have always held the judiciary in this country in high regard."
On Friday, the Kerala High Court lifted the temporary ban on the film, permitting its theatrical release. This decision came after a division bench overturned the prior stay imposed by a single-judge bench.
When discussing feedback from theatre owners, Shah remarked, "The film has received an incredible response at the box office, and our distributors, along with theatre operators, are extremely pleased."
He added that, due to the enthusiastic audience reception, there are plans to increase both the number of shows and screens for the film.
"They have expressed their desire to expand the number of screenings and shows as they foresee that the audience engagement will translate into significant box office revenue," the filmmaker concluded.
