Twinkle Khanna Remembers the Days When Friends Asked, ‘Do You Have an STD Phone?’

Mumbai, Jan 12 (NationPress) Former actress and writer Twinkle Khanna has shared her memories of the 1980s when friends would visit and curiously ask her if she possessed an “STD” telephone.
Twinkle, who is married to actor Akshay Kumar, took to Instagram to post a nostalgic picture of herself accompanied by the caption: “Friends, flatwallahs and budding CID detectives, lend me your ears.”
In her caption, she described the black telephone that held a special place in her home during the eighties.
She stated: “In the eighties, at one end of our living room, we had a large trunk with a coffee mug filled with pens and an ashtray. There was also a chair facing this makeshift altar where only one god was placed centre stage and regularly worshipped, a black telephone. Acquaintances would come over to ask, ‘Please tell na, you have STD no?’”
Twinkle humorously clarified that they were not inquiring about sexually transmitted diseases.
“This is not as rude as it may appear because they were not referring to syphilis or gonorrhoea but checking if our phone had the superpower to make long-distance calls. Tell me the funniest things that happened to you back in the day when every home had just one phone.”
On the subject of her husband, Akshay is currently working on his upcoming film ‘Bhooth Bangla’, collaborating with filmmaker Priyadarshan.
The duo has previously achieved success with several blockbusters and cult classics, including the beloved ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, 'Garam Masala', and others.
‘Bhooth Bangla’ is anticipated to be a delightful mix of suspense and comedy, as it delves into the haunted house genre with a humorous twist. Akshay, celebrated for his remarkable comic timing, is expected to infuse his charm into the role, while Priyadarshan’s direction is likely to provide the film with a fresh, engaging atmosphere. The Jaipur schedule is set to feature various outdoor shoots across the city’s iconic sites, enriching the film's cultural backdrop.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms alongside Akshay Kumar's production house, Cape of Good Films.
