Urvashi Rautela, one of Bollywood's most debated personalities, has opened up about the misconceptions that have dogged her public image, saying she no longer feels compelled to justify herself and instead prefers to let her body of work and consistency demonstrate her true character. The 32-year-old actress reflected on a career marked by bold public statements that have frequently drawn scrutiny.

In an interview, Rautela addressed a core criticism levelled at her: that ambition and visibility in the public eye are often misread as superficiality, particularly for women in the entertainment industry.

On Ambition and Perception

"I think people sometimes mistake ambition for superficiality, especially when a woman is very visible in the public space," Rautela said. She elaborated that there exists a persistent assumption that those who embrace glamour and fashion cannot simultaneously be intellectually rigorous or disciplined.

"There's often an assumption that if someone embraces glamour or enjoys fashion, they can't also be deeply focused, disciplined, or intellectually driven," she explained.

A Shift in Mindset

Rautela acknowledged that earlier in her career, she felt an internal pressure to counter public narratives about herself. "Earlier, I used to feel the need to prove that I'm much more than the image people see. But now I've understood that you cannot build your life around constantly correcting perceptions," she said.

This marks a notable departure from her previous approach, where she had often attempted to clarify or defend her public statements and career choices.

Trusting Time and Consistency

The actress stressed that genuine understanding comes through sustained professional engagement rather than defensive explanations. "The people who genuinely follow your journey eventually understand your substance through your work, your resilience, and your consistency. So I've stopped trying to over-explain myself. I'd rather keep evolving and let time reveal who I truly am," Rautela concluded.

Rautela is currently preparing to reprise her character in the second season of the crime thriller "Inspector Avinash," headlined by Randeep Hooda. The original series, which aired in 2023, was based on the life of UP super-cop Avinash Mishra and explored his efforts to curb crime in the state. The ensemble cast included Amit Sial, Shalin Bhanot, Rahul Mittra, Zakir Hussain, Ayeesha S. Aiman, Zohaeb Farooqui, Bidita Bag, Pravin Sisodia, Rajneesh Duggal, and Ajay Chaudhary.

Her last film appearance was in "Daaku Maharaaj," marking her return to the streaming space with the upcoming season of "Inspector Avinash."
