Vignesh Shivan Shuts Down X Account Amidst Nayanthara-Dhanush Dispute

Mumbai, Dec 1 (NationPress) Director Vignesh Shivan, who is the spouse of superstar Nayanthara, has chosen to deactivate his X account, which was formerly known as Twitter.

This decision comes in light of the escalating controversies surrounding the streaming documentary titled ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale’.

Following his recent participation in a roundtable discussion about pan-Indian cinema, Vignesh faced significant online criticism. Internet users highlighted that his latest film, ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’, does not qualify as a pan-Indian production. Furthermore, his upcoming project, ‘Love Insurance Kompany’, also fails to meet that classification. Despite this, neither Vignesh nor his team has released any statement regarding the closure of his X account.

While his X account is inactive, his Instagram remains operational, where he has continued to share posts without any mention of his X account deactivation.

Previously, a significant controversy arose when Nayanthara publicly criticized Tamil actor Dhanush. She called out the ‘Maari’ star after he sent her a legal notice demanding compensation for using certain clips from the documentary without proper authorization.

The actress posted a lengthy letter on her Instagram, targeting Dhanush for attempting to halt the release of her documentary, which includes footage from the film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’.

In her letter, she expressed, “A well-established actor like you, with the support and blessings of your father and your brother, an ace director, needs to read and understand this. Cinema as we all know is a fight for survival for people like me, a self-made woman with no links in the industry and someone who had to struggle my way to the position I hold today. I'd owe this to my work ethic that is no secret to all who know me but more importantly, to the goodwill of the audience and my film fraternity”.

She shared that after two extensive years of negotiating with Dhanush for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and awaiting his approval for the documentary release, the team ultimately decided to abandon the negotiations, re-edit the documentary, and proceed with the current version since he refused to allow the use of songs or visual clips from ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’.
