Mumbai, Sep 12 (NationPress) Actor Vishal Jethwa garnered immense acclaim after the premiere of Homebound at the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). He expressed his unwavering faith in filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan's vision and meticulously adhered to his guidance throughout the production.
Reacting to the outpouring of affection for his performance, Vishal remarked: "Honestly, I’m a bit surprised by all this love and appreciation. I didn’t anticipate such a reaction. I simply placed my trust in Neeraj Ghaywan sir’s vision and followed his directives at every stage of the film."
He added: "Everything you’ve praised about my performance is truly a testament to the mentoring I received while filming. Being at TIFF and experiencing such warmth from an international audience is surreal and profoundly humbling."
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound also features Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor.
The film, produced by Dharma Productions, narrates the story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India who aspire to become police officers, seeking the respect they have always lacked. However, as they near their goal, the pressures and challenges threaten their bond.
Vishal began his acting journey in 2013 with the principal role of Akbar in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. He later portrayed Bali in Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman in 2015.
The following year, he took on the role of the terrorist Chota Packet in Diya Aur Baati Hum and played Nasir in Peshwa Bajirao.
His Hindi film debut came in 2019 as a villain in the Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 2. In 2022, he featured in the medical thriller series Human, alongside Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari.
In 2023, Vishal shared the screen with Revathi and Kajol in the film Salaam Venky, which also included actors like Rajeev Khandelwal, Rahul Bose, Prakash Raj, and Aahana Kumra.
This year, he appeared in Vidyut Jammwal’s IB71 and portrayed Hassan Ali in Tiger 3. Most recently, in December 2024, he starred alongside Avneet Kaur in the murder mystery Party Till I Die.
