Chandigarh, Oct 19 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Clinics initiative in Punjab has reached a remarkable achievement as the Outpatient Department (OPD) visits have surpassed an impressive 4.2 crore, with an average of 73,000 patients visiting each day, while lab tests have exceeded 2.29 crore over the past three years.
The Health Minister of Punjab, Balbir Singh, announced on Sunday that since August 15, 2022, more than 4.2 crore individuals have benefitted from free healthcare services provided by the 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics.
These clinics, which include 316 in urban and 565 in rural areas, are dedicated to offering free medical treatment, alongside providing 107 varieties of free medicines and 47 types of free diagnostic tests.
Singh emphasized the health department's commitment to ensuring the availability of all 107 essential drugs.
According to the latest patient feedback survey, an impressive 98 percent of patients reported receiving medications from the clinics.
The minister stated that officials have been directed to ensure that stocks of all necessary medicines are consistently available.
Detailing the patient footfall, Singh shared that these clinics cater to approximately 73,000 patients daily, averaging 83 patients per clinic each day.
This data highlights the efficiency and effectiveness of the clinics in managing a substantial patient load.
Out of the 4.2 crore visitors, 1.5 crore are unique visits, showcasing the broad accessibility of these clinics, while 2.7 crore visits are re-visits, reflecting the trust and satisfaction of the patients.
He added that the clinics have significantly reduced out-of-pocket healthcare costs for individuals by approximately Rs 2,000 crore.
Notably, 54 percent of OPD visits are made by women, highlighting a shift towards gender-inclusive healthcare.
The clinics are actively dismantling traditional barriers to ensure equal access for everyone.
Among the patient demographics, 13.9 percent of visits are by children and adolescents (ages 0-15), while 61.3 percent are by adults (ages 16-60), and 24.8 percent are by senior citizens (aged over 60 years).
This diverse age representation underscores the Aam Aadmi Clinics' commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of all age groups.
