New Delhi, May 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, announced on Thursday that a total of 295,237 beneficiaries have successfully registered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) health initiative, enabling them to receive free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh.
She further noted that registrations for the PM Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY), aimed at senior citizens aged 60 years and above, have reached 123,242.
During a meeting, the Chief Minister also assessed the progress of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and various hospital infrastructure projects.
After discussions with senior officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department and the Public Works Department (PWD), CM Gupta reiterated the Delhi government's commitment to ensuring that every resident of the capital has access to high-quality, affordable, and timely healthcare.
“Our aim is to guarantee that no one is denied proper treatment. A healthy Delhi is the cornerstone of a developed Delhi. With this vision, our government is tirelessly working around the clock, accelerating both the construction of new hospitals and the modernization of existing facilities,” she stated.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the growing participation in the PMJAY and PMVVY schemes signifies the effective outreach and positive impact of the government’s welfare initiatives.
She mentioned that the government is actively working to broaden the scope of these schemes.
Additionally, she revealed that approximately 100 hospitals in Delhi are empaneled under the PMJAY and PMVVY schemes.
If beneficiaries require treatment for specific illnesses outside Delhi, they can receive free treatment at any empaneled hospital across the nation, she added.
The Chief Minister also disclosed ongoing construction projects for new hospitals and upgrades, urging all agencies to expedite work to ensure timely access to modern and efficient healthcare services.
She directed that all hospitals under construction, as well as those undergoing upgrades, must strictly comply with the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS). Furthermore, these facilities must be equipped with top-notch medical services, adequate human resources, essential medicines, sanitation systems, and medical equipment.
Regarding the upcoming Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, the Chief Minister noted that under the Ayushman Bharat Mission initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi government is in the process of establishing 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs throughout the city.
Approximately 15 such centers will be launched in each Assembly constituency, providing residents with access to free basic healthcare services. These centers will offer health check-ups, primary treatments, essential medicines, and host health awareness programs.
