Mumbai, Nov 4 (NationPress) Television actress Pratiksha Rai discussed her attraction to negative roles.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, the 'Vasudha' star expressed her fondness for negative characters, stating that they allow her to delve into various facets of a single persona.
When asked, "What interests you in playing so many negative roles?" she responded, "I truly relish embodying negative characters as they provide an opportunity to explore a plethora of emotions within one role—rage, deceit, fragility, and even comedy. Additionally, they often come with stunning appearances and exquisite costumes!"
However, she acknowledged the risk of being typecast, mentioning, "After portraying several negative roles, I began receiving similar offers consistently. As a result, I am contemplating a hiatus to transition to more positive characters."
During the discussion, Pratiksha reflected on whether she has encountered difficulties or unkind treatment from senior colleagues on set.
She confirmed this by saying, "I’ve observed that some seniors, whom we expect to be modest and approachable, can behave quite differently. A few have a tendency to mock or ridicule from behind, attempting to undermine your confidence. This occurred in one or two productions, tempting me to leave the television industry. However, supportive colleagues helped me realize that such negativity is commonplace, and I shouldn’t let a few unpleasant experiences deter me from my path."
Pratiksha also encouraged emerging actors to maintain their optimism.
"Stay resilient, keep evolving, and always treat others with kindness, regardless of how you were treated in the past," she advised.
When probed about her interest in films or web series, Pratiksha expressed her enthusiasm for web projects but noted that her family holds traditional values.
"I’ve committed to selecting respectable assignments. Films demand significant patience and time, and given my familiarity with the rapid pace of television, I might find it challenging. That said, I would love the chance to explore the OTT space," she concluded.
