Chennai, March 6 (NationPress) Actress Vasundhara, who is set to portray a negative role in director Sunil’s upcoming Telugu film starring Priyadarshi as the lead, emphasizes that she is now focusing on roles that possess shades of grey.
According to Vasundhara, known for her performances in critically acclaimed films—ranging from the National Award winning ‘Thenmerkku Paruvakaatru’ to the recently released ‘Bakrid’—she states, “I’m currently concentrating on modern roles or those with a negative tint as they appear to be significantly more enjoyable to portray. I also aspire to present myself in a different light beyond just being an actor. In pursuit of this, I’m engaging in my artistic aspirations outside of the industry, and I hope you’ll appreciate my endeavors there.”
The actress reveals that she has taken on a negative character in a Telugu movie. “Priyadarshi plays the lead, and director Sunil is new to directing. Nonetheless, Sunil brings substantial experience from the industry. My role in the film is both modern and powerful. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere on set, as everyone was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I’m delighted to have collaborated with such a talented team in Telugu and hope it opens up more opportunities for me in that industry.”
Sharing insights about her other projects, she mentions, “In Tamil, I’m collaborating with Aishwarya Rajesh on a film titled ‘Kali’. This too is a modern role with shades of grey. It was enjoyable as it contrasts sharply with my real-life persona and posed quite a challenge. The director is Lakshmi Narayan Raju, who previously helmed the series ‘Pub Goa’.”
“These two films are expected to be released first in 2025. In addition, I’m in discussions and currently filming several other projects. Updates regarding these will be provided by the production team soon.”
Vasundhara highlights the challenges faced by films today, as many believe they can simply watch movies on OTT platforms if they miss them in theaters.
“Many exceptional films are losing viewers due to this mindset. For instance, Bakrid didn’t perform well in theaters, yet I still receive messages and comments expressing disappointment that this remarkable film missed out on a theatrical release. It’s not solely the story that counts; the timing of the release is crucial,” she concludes.
