Dr. Loni Lirina, a critical care physician at the American Oncology Institute, Babina Specialty Hospital based in Imphal, was on the flight when the young woman suddenly faced severe breathing challenges.
In response to a call for medical assistance from the flight crew, Dr. Lirina quickly moved to assist the ailing passenger.
Upon her assessment, she promptly advised the use of oxygen, nebulization, and vital medications to stabilize the young woman's health.

The flight ultimately reached New Delhi safely, with the passenger reported to be in stable condition.
Dr. Lirina revealed that the passenger had a background of childhood asthma but had not been on any medication for several years.
"During the examination, the patient was in critical respiratory distress, displaying a heart rate above 160 beats per minute, low blood pressure, and oxygen saturation at 80 percent in the ambient air. Fortunately, after administering treatment, the young woman stabilized," she expressed in a video message.
Manipur's Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh commended Dr. Lirina for her timely and life-saving actions. He took to X to express his gratitude: "Every life saved is a testament to skill and compassion."
