New Delhi, July 18 (NationPress) A 57-year-old individual from Gujarat has expressed his gratitude for the quick actions of airport personnel who saved his life after he experienced a cardiac arrest at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).
The man, Rahul Naik from Rajkot, was successfully revived thanks to timely CPR at Terminal 1.
This critical incident took place on Doctor’s Day -- July 1 -- just by the check-in counter at Terminal 1.
Naik suddenly collapsed due to cardiac arrest. Immediate CPR and two AED shocks were crucial in saving his life.
"The paramedic team at the airport swiftly provided CPR and shock treatment, which brought me back to life," Naik recounted in a video shared on the social media platform X.
He was subsequently transported to Nanavati Hospital in a cardiac ambulance, expressing deep appreciation for the prompt medical attention he received.
Naik emphasized the importance of increasing awareness about CPR and advocated for the installation of CPR facilities at all airports and bus stations to save more lives.
CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is a critical emergency procedure that merges chest compressions with rescue breaths to assist individuals who have stopped breathing or whose heart has ceased to beat.
This essential technique helps sustain blood flow and oxygen to vital organs until professional medical assistance arrives.
"Thanks to a quick response from Paramedic Komal Sonawane and Dr. Shalini Soundar Pandian, Mumbai Airport transformed from a mere travel hub into a sanctuary of care, bravery, and life-saving intervention," the airport stated in a post on X.
The post also commended the rapid actions of the paramedic team in preserving the man's life.
“At Terminal 1, a passenger experienced a sudden cardiac arrest near the check-in counter. Without hesitation, our Medical Team took immediate action. Paramedic Komal Sonawane and Dr. Shalini Soundar Pandian delivered prompt CPR and two AED shocks, successfully reviving the individual, restoring both heartbeat and consciousness," the official statement detailed.
“Thanks to their swift and expert handling, the passenger was stabilized and safely transported to a nearby hospital using our Airport Advanced Life Support Ambulance. Our heartfelt thanks to Paramedic Komal Sonawane and Dr. Shalini Soundar Pandian, dedicated professionals at CSMIA, who truly embody the essence of guardianship during critical moments," it concluded.
