What Happened to Gujarat Police Aspirant Who Died After Physical Test?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Rajkot, Feb 2 (NationPress) A 27-year-old individual tragically succumbed to a heart attack shortly after finishing the physical examination for Gujarat police recruitment held at the SRP ground in Gondal, Rajkot, on Monday morning, according to officials.
The deceased, identified as Nitinbhai Chauhan, hailed from Malarwadi in Kodinar (Gir Somnath).
Authorities reported that Chauhan successfully completed the required 5 km run in 23 minutes, surpassing the designated qualifying timeframe as part of the physical endurance evaluation. Moments after exiting the ground, he experienced intense chest pain and struggled to breathe. He was subsequently transported to the Civil Hospital in Gondal, where he passed away while receiving treatment, officials noted.
“He had just finished the run and was on his way back when he suddenly reported chest discomfort and collapsed. Medical teams administered first aid and rushed him to the hospital, but he could not be revived,” a police spokesperson stated.
Chauhan, who possessed BSc and MSc degrees, had been married for about a year and had been diligently preparing for a career in law enforcement for several years. His family described his unexpected death as a devastating blow occurring mere moments after he achieved a significant milestone in his quest to join the police force.
This incident is not an isolated case during police recruitment efforts in the state. Earlier this month in Bharuch, a 25-year-old candidate, Ravirajsinh Jadeja from Kutch, collapsed and died after completing a similar 5 km run during the physical test for police recruitment. Jadeja also reported breathlessness right after finishing the run and, despite medical assistance, was pronounced dead at Bharuch Civil Hospital.
The police have initiated an accidental death case, and his autopsy reportedly indicated a blockage in the heart.
Another similar incident from Chhota Udepur involved a 27-year-old candidate who collapsed during the running test for police recruitment and later died, according to official records.
Officials stated they would reassess safety measures and medical screening protocols at recruitment centers to ensure that adequate emergency medical support is available.
