Gandhinagar, Jan 23 (NationPress) A disturbing trend has emerged in Gujarat as a series of tragic deaths have been reported within a single day, raising significant concerns about the police department. In separate incidents, two active police officers and a candidate for police recruitment lost their lives in Gandhinagar and Bharuch. Authorities have initiated multiple investigations.
In the most recent case, a police head constable stationed at the Sector-7 Police Station in Gandhinagar was discovered deceased at his home on Friday morning, in what appears to be a suicide.
The individual has been identified as Upendrasinh Vaghela, a resident of Pethapur, who was reportedly on medical leave at the time of the incident.
According to law enforcement, Vaghela was found hanging from a ceiling fan on the upper floor of his residence, prompting family members to notify the police.
Senior police officials quickly arrived at the scene, and the body was transported to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for an autopsy.
Sector-7 Police Inspector Bharat Gohil stated that no suicide note was located. "Currently, there is no clear explanation for the incident. An accidental death report has been filed at the Pethapur police station, and further inquiries are ongoing," he informed IANS.
Vaghela leaves behind a grieving family, including his mother, wife, and two children.
This incident in Gandhinagar occurred shortly after two deaths were reported in Bharuch the previous day. In one case, a female police constable stationed at the Bharuch Police Headquarters was discovered deceased in her living quarters late Wednesday night.
The deceased, identified as Preeti Parmar, is believed to have taken her own life. Originally from Borla village in the Talaja taluka of Bhavnagar district, she had worked with the Local Intelligence Branch in Bharuch for the past five years.
Authorities confirmed that the cause of her death remains unknown, and a post-mortem examination has been ordered.
In a separate occurrence related to the ongoing police recruitment process in Bharuch, a 25-year-old candidate collapsed after completing a running test, subsequently dying during medical treatment. The individual has been identified as Ravirajsinh Jadeja, who was participating in the PSI recruitment.
According to police reports, Jadeja experienced breathlessness after finishing the third round of the run and collapsed. He received immediate medical attention and was taken to Bharuch Civil Hospital before being referred to a private facility, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities confirmed that Jadeja came from a police family, with his father serving as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in SRP Group-1 in Vadodara. In both cases in Bharuch, accidental death reports have been filed, and investigations are currently being conducted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding these tragic events.
