Key Takeaways
Indore, Jan 10 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya announced on Saturday that the health conditions in the Bhagirathpura region of Indore, where tainted drinking water has tragically caused several fatalities, are gradually stabilizing. The health department remains vigilant to ensure that residents receive comprehensive care.
The Minister further stated that an extensive health assessment for each resident of Bhagirathpura has been initiated, with multiple medical teams actively visiting homes to conduct these check-ups.
"Approximately 50,000 to 60,000 individuals inhabit the Bhagirathpura area, and health evaluations are ongoing. Should any resident's health worsen, they will receive appropriate medical intervention," Vijayvargiya remarked during his site inspection.
He also mentioned that about 30% of the work related to installing a new pipeline for Narmada drinking water is finished, with ongoing testing of water samples at various sites. Supply of Narmada water to certain parts of Bhagirathpura is expected to commence within the next two to three days.
In related developments, Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to the Chief Minister, along with other senior officials, assessed the current situation on the ground, engaging with local residents during their visit.
According to Mandloi, water distribution in one-third of the Bhagirathpura locality will resume in the forthcoming one or two days.
"A new 15-20 km long water pipeline is being constructed, which will require some time. All necessary approvals for development initiatives have been secured, and the entire project should be completed within the next month or two," Mandloi informed the press.
Having arrived in Indore on Friday night, Mandloi convened a meeting with high-ranking administrative officials, including the district collector and municipal commissioner, to discuss the ongoing situation.
