Chennai, March 23 (NationPress) The Jan Aushadhi Kendras, initiated under the flagship scheme of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government - Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) in 2016, is significantly transforming the lives of individuals by offering medications at remarkably lower prices than their private counterparts (medical stores).

Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district is the most recent area to reap the rewards of this initiative. Coimbatore was the pioneer city in the southern state to host the first Jan Aushadhi Kendra, but now, numerous such centres are operational across the state.

In Tiruvallur, the Jan Aushadhi outlet situated near the new Army Road is providing a wide range of medications at drastically reduced prices, thus aiding the underprivileged and lower-income groups. The lower-and-middle classes are also experiencing substantial savings on healthcare expenditures.

The prices here are significantly lower compared to private medical stores, with certain medications priced at half the cost. High-quality drugs for conditions like heart diseases, diabetes, and other health issues are accessible at reasonable rates.

A few beneficiaries shared their experiences with IANS. Arun Kumar, a medicine purchaser, stated: "The PM-BJP has been incredibly advantageous for us. For the last three years, I have been acquiring medicines for my parents' sugar and blood pressure conditions. Previously, buying these medicines from large pharmacies was costly. Through this Central government scheme, the prices are much lower, making it affordable for the less fortunate like us. All varieties of medicines are available here, and it has been profoundly beneficial for us."

Thiagarajan, another local resident, affirmed: "We have greatly benefited. We are obtaining cheaper medicines for BP and sugar from here. All medications are available at very low prices."

“Pharmacies outside sell the same medicines for Rs 2,000, whereas at the Janaushadhi Kendra, they are available for Rs 500. This is exceedingly advantageous and convenient for us. I am thankful for this initiative,” he added.

Another local, Yuvaraj remarked: "We have been purchasing medicines from here for an extended period. The medications are high in quality and very low in price. All types of medicines for various treatments are accessible here. Specifically, I buy medicines for my father's heart condition from here. I procure medications for all my family members from the Janaushadhi Kendra. The prices are low, and the quality is commendable. I am pleased with the service."
