New Delhi, Oct 27 (NationPress) Vigilance is a vital institutional practice, declared Health Minister JP Nadda on Monday as he inaugurated the 'Vigilance Awareness Week 2025'.
This observance is taking place nationwide from October 27 to November 2, centered around the theme -- 'Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility'.
The focus of this initiative is to enhance integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life, while collectively combating corruption and unethical conduct as a community. This awareness campaign aligns with the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
The Health Minister highlighted the necessity of embedding ethical practices within institutions and fostering a culture of vigilance throughout governance levels. He also took the Integrity Pledge alongside senior officials and ministry staff.
“A simple checklist of do’s and don’ts should be created to prevent people from inadvertently making mistakes due to good intentions,” said Nadda.
“Regular training and capacity-building initiatives are essential to keep everyone informed and vigilant,” he added.
Annually celebrated during the last week of October to honor the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (October 31), this initiative seeks to enhance public awareness regarding the significance of integrity, accountability, and ethical behavior in public service.
As a precursor to 'Vigilance Awareness Week 2025', the CVC had earlier in August issued a circular recommending organizations to engage in a three-month campaign on Preventive Vigilance from August 18 to November 17.
This campaign emphasized five critical areas: (i) Addressing pending complaints (ii) Resolving outstanding cases (iii) Conducting capacity-building programs (iv) Asset Management, and (v) Implementing digital initiatives.
Officials from the ministry took part in the pledge ceremony, reaffirming their dedication to maintaining ethical standards, transparency, and accountability within public service.
