New Delhi, June 16 (NationPress) The Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, Sonia Gandhi, who was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi late on Sunday due to stomach-related issues, is now reported to be stable, according to a hospital statement released on Monday.
The 78-year-old former President of Congress is currently under close observation in the Gastroenterology department of the hospital.
Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, stated, "Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at 9:00 PM yesterday (June 15, 2025), under the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology for a stomach-related issue. She is currently stable, and the doctors are closely monitoring her health."
This marks the second time this month that Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalized.
On June 7, she underwent an MRI at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Hospital in Shimla following complaints of restlessness.
A doctor at IGMC reported that Gandhi's blood pressure was slightly elevated but she was stable.
She was taken to the hospital for a routine check-up due to minor health concerns, as stated by Naresh Chauhan, principal advisor (media) to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Upon learning of Gandhi's medical condition, CM Sukhu curtailed his visit to Una and traveled to Shimla, according to a party leader.
Earlier this year, Sonia Gandhi had been hospitalized in Delhi for a stomach-related issue, where she spent one day under the care of a gastroenterology specialist.
In September 2022, she visited the U.S. for a medical check-up that had been postponed due to the pandemic.
During that trip, she was accompanied by her son and party leader Rahul Gandhi, which led to her missing a significant portion of the Monsoon Session of Parliament in 2022.
Just prior to her U.S. visit, Sonia Gandhi had initiated a significant organizational restructuring within the party.
The news of her U.S. visit was shared by Congress leader Randeep Surjewala, who also expressed gratitude to everyone for their concern and good wishes.
