Khartoum, April 14 (NationPress) At least 56 individuals were killed by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Umm Kadada city, located in North Darfur State, western Sudan, according to reports from volunteer organizations.
These individuals were reportedly "executed on an ethnic basis" following the RSF's takeover of the city on Thursday, as stated by the Coordination of Resistance Committees from the state capital, El Fasher. All victims were identified as civilians.
The local volunteer organization accused the militia of "committing widespread violations, forcibly displacing residents, and shutting down all communication networks."
In addition, the Sudanese Emergency Lawyers Initiative, another volunteer group, confirmed in a statement that the RSF killed 52 civilians, burned down residential homes, and looted properties in just two days after their entry into Umm Kadada.
"The RSF also raided the local hospital, assaulted patients, and executed four medical personnel, including the hospital's director," the statement added.
No comments have been made by the RSF regarding these allegations, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
Earlier on Friday, more than 114 civilians were reported dead due to attacks by the RSF on two displacement camps over the last two days in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. A local official announced this tragic news.
"More than 100 civilians lost their lives due to the brutal attack initiated by the RSF militia on the Zamzam displacement camp yesterday (Friday), with numerous individuals injured," said Ibrahim Khatir, director general of North Darfur State's health authority, in a statement to Xinhua.
"On Saturday, an additional 14 civilians were killed due to another militia attack on the Abu Shouk displacement camp, with many others injured," he continued.
Khatir disclosed that among those deceased in the Zamzam camp were nine employees of Relief International, a non-governmental organization operating a field hospital in the area.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in a severe conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, resulting in over 29,600 fatalities, as per the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data, a crisis monitoring group referenced by the United Nations.
