Seven Indian nationals were killed and nine others injured on Monday, 8 June when a minibus rear-ended a stationary truck on a Dubai road, the Consulate General of India, Dubai confirmed. The crash is one of the deadliest single road accidents involving Indian workers in the UAE in recent memory.

According to Dubai Police, the truck had come to a sudden halt in the middle of the road owing to a technical malfunction. The minibus driver, reportedly failing to maintain a safe following distance and adequate attention, struck the truck from behind at speed.
