The individuals apprehended are believed to be involved in the smuggling of these illegal items, with the ministry warning that strict legal measures will be enforced against anyone involved in the production or trafficking of narcotics within the nation.
On March 29, the Ministry of Interior Affairs reported that Afghan security forces dismantled two hidden heroin production labs in Ghor province and successfully destroyed over 6,000 kg of illicit substances.
Counter-narcotics teams conducted focused operations around the province, resulting in the destruction of these facilities and the confiscation of 6,140 kg of precursor chemicals used in heroin manufacturing, as stated by the ministry.
Authorities in Afghanistan have escalated their nationwide efforts to combat drug trafficking and production, committing to continue operations until poppy cultivation and heroin production are entirely eradicated from the war-affected country.
On February 24, a statement from the provincial police confirmed the arrest of two drug traffickers in Takhar province, with 41 kg of illegal substances recovered from their possession.
The detained suspects were reportedly attempting to smuggle 29 kg of opium poppy and 12 kg of hashish out of the province on February 23.
Earlier, on February 3, provincial police spokesman Mullah Kalimullah Nangyal announced that police in Farah province arrested two drug traffickers and confiscated 75 kg of narcotics.
Acting on intelligence, security forces raided a site in Farah Rod district and arrested the two suspects, also recovering an assault rifle from the scene.
