Acting Head of AUSSOM, Sivuyile Bam, who congratulated the Somali National Army (SNA) on its 65th anniversary, called on international partners to support Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in his quest to develop a robust army capable of ensuring the security of Somalia, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.
"We must continue to enhance the SNA by supplying the essential equipment and resources required to sustain operations against illegitimate forces," Bam stated in a declaration made in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
Bam reiterated AUSSOM's commitment to partnering with the Somali government and the SNA to protect civilians, secure key supply routes, and liberate regions under the control of al-Shabab militants.
"As the Somali Security Forces take on the responsibility for the nation’s security, AUSSOM is confident in the SNA's capacity to safeguard its populace and contribute to national progress," Bam asserted.
In a statement, Mohamud praised the army's successes in the ongoing battle against terrorism and the reclamation of territories from extremist factions, highlighting the unwavering dedication and sacrifices made by troops to defend the nation and ensure a safer future for generations to come.
