Dhaka, June 24 (NationPress) The Awami League has strongly denounced a horrific attack on the entire family of a Union member in the Bagerhat district of Bangladesh, orchestrated by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) due to his allegiance to the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party. “In Bemorta Union of Bagerhat, BNP assailants launched a vicious attack on the family of Saheb Ali, a local Union Member, solely because of his affiliation with the Awami League. When they couldn't locate Saheb Ali at home, the assailants brutally assaulted his entire family. His elder son Riyad and younger son Rajib suffered severe injuries, with their leg tendons cut, while his wife had her arm tendons severed. The attackers also set their house ablaze, reducing it to ruins,” the Awami League's statement read.
The Awami League emphasized that the locality now serves as a dire reminder of “BNP’s reign of terror through fire and violence.”
“How much longer will the nation tolerate BNP’s cycle of bloodshed, terror, and fear? The citizens of Bangladesh demand justice. These perpetrators must face the law — and peace must be reinstated in our homeland through substantial punishment,” the Awami League asserted.
In a separate incident, on the previous day, the Awami League reported that Subrata Deb Nath, a party activist in Monirampur Upazila of Jessore district, has fallen victim to a brutal attack by Jubo Dal, the BNP's youth faction. The individual is currently battling for his life in the ICU.
“The assault occurred around 9 PM at Subrata’s home in Bakoshpol village, Monirampur Sadar Union (Ward-6), Jessore. A group of 10–12 armed attackers led by Jubo Dal (BNP's youth wing) leader Rahim stormed in with machetes, axes, and hammers, launching a sudden and violent assault. They also stole Bangladeshi taka 40,000 in cash along with a gold chain before fleeing,” stated the Awami League.
The party indicated that this alarming incident is not an isolated case, asserting that the BNP-Jubo Dal is systematically inflicting “terror and chaos” across the nation through coordinated attacks on Awami League supporters.
“Their actions are not merely criminal; they are part of a well-orchestrated conspiracy aimed at eradicating the Awami League’s influence and destabilizing Bangladesh,” the party concluded.
