Johannesburg, Nov 23 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Earlier, the Prime Minister addressed the third session of the G20 Summit focusing on "A Fair and a Just Future for All - Critical Minerals; Decent Work; Artificial Intelligence.” He advocated for a transformative approach to the promotion of critical technologies, emphasizing that their applications should be ‘human-centric' instead of 'finance-centric', 'global' rather than 'national', and founded on 'open source' principles as opposed to 'exclusive models'.
Highlighting the global potential of AI, PM Modi urged for a worldwide agreement based on transparency, human oversight, safety-by-design, and preventing misuse. He announced that India would host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026 under the theme 'Sarvajanam Hitaya, Sarvajanam Sukhaya' (Welfare for all, Happiness for all) and invited all G20 nations to participate.
Furthermore, PM Modi met with Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, discussing the strengthening of ties between the two countries.
In a post on X, PM Modi stated, "Had a fruitful conversation with Mr. Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. Our friendship is built on shared history and enriched cultural bonds, continuing to grow through our commitment to collective advancement."
Additionally, PM Modi met Dick Schoof, the Netherlands' Prime Minister, and acknowledged the swift growth of their partnership in energy, technology, and water resources.

After their discussions, PM Modi wrote on X, "Had an excellent meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. We reviewed the comprehensive India-South Africa partnership, focusing on strengthening commerce, culture, investment linkages, and diversifying cooperation in technology, AI, critical minerals, and more. I congratulated President Ramaphosa on South Africa's successful G20 Presidency."
