Dhaka, May 31 (NationPress) The Awami League, led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has vocally criticized the ongoing "fascist actions" and mentality of the "illegitimate" interim administration under Muhammad Yunus.
In a declaration made on Friday, A.F.M. Bahauddin Nasim, the Joint General Secretary of Awami League, accused the "fascist Yunus faction" of unlawfully seizing governmental authority through both domestic and international conspiracies.
"Upon seizing power through a well-orchestrated plan, it was the fascist Yunus who proclaimed that the 'reset button has been pressed' — suggesting that the country's history, culture, and accomplishments have been obliterated. Since that moment, they have persistently tried to compel the entire population to perceive and comprehend everything solely through their perspective," the statement elaborated.
Emphasizing that anyone who advocates for the Bangladesh Liberation War or freedom of expression faces oppression and harassment, Bahauddin Nasim remarked that the media has been transformed into a "vehicle for glorifying Yunus."
"An atmosphere of dread has been fostered by rallying mobs against media establishments and dismissing journalists. The media has not only lost its ability to shape or mirror public opinion but has also relinquished its right to express its own views. Only content that is sanctioned and approved by this fascist regime is permitted for publication. If any outlet attempts to disseminate anything beyond this, mobs are unleashed upon that media establishment or journalist. Consequently, journalists have been compelled to impose self-censorship boundaries," the statement continued.
Reiterating that the Bangladesh Awami League is a political entity of the populace with a profound connection to the nation's spirit, he asserted that no force can disrupt this bond.
The Awami League leader mentioned that throughout every challenging circumstance, the citizens of Bangladesh will continue to trust the party, adding that the party will progress by embracing the aspirations of the people. Through the collective struggle of the populace, he expressed confidence in overcoming all "malicious" endeavors of the Yunus regime.
"In this scenario, the Bangladesh Awami League, representing democratic principles, persists in its fight to safeguard the rights of the citizenry. The Awami League has consistently been the alternative voice. Yet, this fascist government, intimidated by the public's support for the Awami League, has resorted to banning its operations," the statement emphasized.
"Nevertheless, Awami League leaders and supporters remain committed to an unwavering fight to uphold the rights of the people. Unable to stifle the unyielding spirit and resilience of the Awami League's leaders and activists, the fascist Yunus regime has now blocked the party's website. We categorically condemn and protest such actions," it concluded.
