Two Baloch armed groups — the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) and the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) — have claimed responsibility for a string of coordinated attacks on Pakistani military forces and key infrastructure across Balochistan, according to local media reports. The claimed operations, spanning September 13 to 20, reportedly resulted in heavy casualties and material damage.

BLF Claims Nine Separate Operations

BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said in a statement that the group conducted nine separate operations across multiple districts, including Kech, Dalbandin, Kharan, Mastung, Khuzdar, Dasht, Awaran, and Quetta. The operations reportedly targeted military convoys, checkpoints, communications infrastructure, and security personnel.

According to the BLF's account, on September 20, its fighters attacked a Pakistani military convoy in the Pullabad area of Tump in Kech district, deploying heavy and automatic weapons. The group further claimed that rockets were fired at a nearby military checkpoint, causing casualties and material losses — though these figures have not been independently verified.

On September 19, BLF fighters reportedly targeted a military communications tower in the Ashlolo Padag area of Dalbandin, setting its equipment ablaze. The group alleged the tower served communications, surveillance, and military coordination purposes, according to The Balochistan Post.

Convoy Ambush, Sniper Attack, and IED Strike

The BLF claimed that on September 17, its members set up a blockade in the Maro area of Mastung, intercepting vehicles and attacking a military vehicle after personnel inside allegedly attempted to draw weapons. The group said the assault left four military personnel seriously injured.

In a claimed sniper operation on September 15, a Frontier Corps personnel was reportedly killed at a checkpoint in the Suneri area of Mashkay district. Separately on the same date, BLF said its members encountered Pakistan's Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel during a patrol in the Sariab area of Quetta, with the subsequent attack allegedly killing three CTD personnel and injuring two others.

The group also claimed that on September 13, bomb disposal personnel were targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Malant area of Tump while attempting to defuse a planted explosive, resulting in the reported death of one military personnel and injuries to another. All casualty figures are as claimed by the BLF and have not been independently confirmed.

BRG Claims Encounter With 'Death Squad'

In a separate development, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed it engaged an armed group it described as a state-backed 'death squad' in the Kachhi Qalandar area of Kachhi district. BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said in a statement that the group's fighters encountered the armed men during a routine patrol, and that the latter attempted to obstruct their movement before the BRG responded with an attack. The spokesperson claimed the alleged death squad members fled the scene, leaving behind weapons.

Broader Pattern of Escalating Violence

These claimed incidents come amid a broader and intensifying pattern of attacks by Baloch armed groups against Pakistani military and police forces across the province. Balochistan has witnessed a sustained insurgency for decades, rooted in longstanding grievances over resource extraction, political marginalisation, and allegations of enforced disappearances — all of which Pakistani authorities have repeatedly contested. Notably, this latest wave of claimed operations spans at least eight districts, suggesting a wider operational reach than previous reported cycles. The Pakistani government had not issued an official response to these specific claims at the time of reporting.
