Quetta, June 20 (NationPress) A Baloch human rights organization has raised serious alarms over the troubling surge of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch civilians by Pakistani forces.
The Baloch Voice For Justice (BVJ) disclosed that Saifullah, who was taken from Mangochar village in Balochistan on June 11, remains unaccounted for. Furthermore, Shahzaib Ahmed, abducted during Eid festivities, succumbed to severe torture, while another young man is still missing, and one is in critical condition.
“On June 11, Saifullah, son of Raheem Dad Muhammad Shahi, was forcibly disappeared from Mangochar Bazaar and is still missing. Shahzaib Ahmed, a resident of Quetta Killi Qambarani, was abducted from Mangochar on Eid. In custody, he suffered brutal torture, leaving his body marked with burns, broken arms, and grave injuries. Despite receiving medical attention, he died within hours,” stated the BVJ.
The organization emphasized that the crisis of enforced disappearances continues to afflict Balochistan, causing immense distress to families whose loved ones have been missing for years without any resolution or accountability.
They urgently called on other human rights organizations to take action and advocate for the safe return of the missing individuals.
The BVJ highlighted several longstanding unresolved cases, including Abdul Rasheed, who disappeared on February 9, 2012, while traveling from Hub to Karachi. Additionally, Ali Hassan Sheikh was abducted from Wadh on November 4, 2011, and remains missing, while Muhammad Ramzan Mengal, a resident of Saroona, was taken from Hub in 2011 and is still unaccounted for.
The BVJ demands the unconditional release of all missing persons and urges the global human rights community to address this ongoing humanitarian crisis.
In another development, the protest outside the Turbat Press Club in Balochistan by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has entered its second day. The BYC Kech Zone has organized a sit-in against the illegal detention of its central organizers Mahrang Baloch, Bebarg Baloch, Sibghatullah Shajee, Gulzadi, Beebo, and others who are unlawfully held by Pakistani authorities.
People from Balochistan are currently struggling for their independence from Pakistan. Numerous human rights organizations have consistently highlighted the oppression by Pakistani forces in the region, which includes violent home raids targeting Baloch leaders and civilians, unlawful arrests, enforced disappearances, the 'kill and dump' policy, detention under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, and fabricated police charges.
